We are pleased to announce that Raccoon Mountain Campground was voted
Tennessee Campground of the Year 2008 - 2009
Our
park is open year-round and is located at the base of Raccoon Mountain
just 1.3 miles off of Interstate 24 at the Lookout Valley exit (#174).
Our location is perfect if you want great views of both Raccoon and
Lookout Mountains, close proximity to area attractions, and an “easy
off / easy on” exit that does not have much traffic. Most importantly,
we are at the end of a well-maintained county road and our interior
roads were designed to accommodate large RV’s.
Raccoon
Mountain RV Park & Campground is the closest campground to the
area’s major attractions: Tennessee Aquarium, Lookout Mountain,
Southern Belle Riverboat, IMAX Theater, downtown Chattanooga, and
Erlanger Medical Center. We are adjacent to Raccoon Mountain Caverns
and are just one mile from the TVA Raccoon Mountain Facility along the
Tennessee River.
We
are the premier campground in Chattanooga and our goal is to provide
you with an exceptional (and memorable) camping experience. Your
satisfaction is very important to us and we hope that you will enjoy
your stay so much that you will return when your travels bring you this
way and recommend us to your friends.
Our park amenities available to all guests include:

Many
campers inquire about having a camp fire and they are permitted in our
county provided that they are being used either to cook food or as a
source of heat. We ask that you limit your fire to natural vegetation
and, request that under no circumstances you burn processed wood
(treated or untreated), plastics, or other polluting substances. Important Note: The
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of
Agriculture is trying to stop the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer which
is currently damaging ash trees in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and
Illinois. They are requesting that you do not bring firewood onto our
campground as campgrounds are considered to be a “high risk” area
because some campers like to bring their own firewood.
Please
help stop the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer and other pests by not
taking any firewood out of your state and only using local sources of
firewood. We have beautiful ash trees on the property and do not want
them damaged by beetles or larvae hidden in firewood brought into our
area by campers. Accordingly, we must ask that you do not bring any firewood onto the campground. Firewood
is available for sale at the camp office for $5.00 per bundle (tax
included) This is a good value as the price has remained unchanged
since 1995. Your cooperation and understanding of this threat is
appreciated.
We
have simplified our camp site offerings into three basic types: (please
click on the site type on your left for pictures and additional
information). Our rates are based upon the type of site and not on the
actual utilities used.
Full Service RV Sites - $33.00 - $37.00 per night
These
sites all offer pull-through convenience and have water (city), sewer,
cable TV, and electric hookups. Our premium (large) sites ($32.00) all
have 50 amp electric service and are approximately 55 - 75’ in length
and up to 25 - 40’ in width. There is no extra charge for 50 amp
service ! We refer to the $30.00 sites as our standard full-service
sites and these are good sites provided that your combined length (RV +
vehicle length) does not exceed 35’. Note: We have had several
campers with 25’ - 35’ travel trailers and 5th wheels reserve standard
sites only to have no room for their vehicle. Please pay close
attention to your total combined length when selecting a site.
Water & Electric Sites - $30.00 per night
These
sites are typically back-in sites and have 20/30 amp electric service
and city water. They are ideal for either tent campers, van campers,
pop-ups, or travel trailers. Many are shaded while several are beside
the pool and playground area and a few are adjacent to the bathhouse.
Primitive tent Sites - $20.00 per night
These
sites are primarily designed for tent campers. Some are heavily shaded
while other have sun at varying times during the day. Some are close to
the pool and bathhouse while others are more remote. Regardless of
location, you have access to all campground amenities.
Site Notes:
Please note that our rates include up to four people (2 adults + 2
children) on a site. Additional persons are $3.00 per day if over age
12, $1.50 per day if under age 12, and there is no charge for infants
under age 1. A maximum of six people can occupy a tent site and up to
eight can occupy an RV site.
Visitors:
You are welcome to have visitors on your site between 8 AM - 10
PM. Guests need to register their vehicle at the office prior to going
to your site. Site occupancy rules apply and you will incur an
additional fee if more than four people are on your site.
Dump Station: We
maintain a sanitary dump station for our guests and regret that we are
unable to permit dumping by non-registered campers. A $3.50 fee (tax
included) is charged to help offset the cost of maintaining the
station, tank, and field lines.
